VIRAL! Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir Get Involved In UGLY FIGHT In LSG Vs RCB Match; Both Fined 100% Of Their Match Fee-READ BELOW
While many witnessed the drama live from the comfort of their homes, the environment on the pitch started to heat up as LSG bowler Naveen-ul-Haq and Kohli exchanged words
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pulled off a stunning victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 18 runs. However, the 43rd match of IPL 2023 witnessed high-octane drama as Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir - legendary personalities of the Indian cricket team - got involved in a nasty brawl. In case you don’t know, these two have a history of confronting each other.
For those unaware, approximately 10 years ago, Gambhir and Kohli confronted each other during RCB's match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru. However, Kohli does not lead RCB anymore, except for special occasions. While Gambhir is retired and works as a global mentor at LSG.
However, their recent feud refuses to die down.
While many witnessed the drama live from the comfort of their homes, the environment on the pitch started to heat up as LSG bowler Naveen-ul-Haq and Kohli exchanged words. This led to Gambhir pulling away his side's opening batter Kyle Mayers from a chat with Kohli.
Later, Gambhir approached Kohli aggressively with his players, including the injured captain KL Rahul, restraining him. Although, Kohli tried to pacify Gambhir with his hands on the LSG global mentor’s shoulders. But, the conversation soon turned hostile.
During the 17th over of the first innings, Kohli had a heated exchange with Naveen. Mishra and an umpire had to intervene then.
Kohli had been extra animated throughout the fielding innings, as RCB successfully defended 126 in an away match that had more crowd support for the visitors than the hosts. He even shushed the crowd after taking a catch to dismiss Krunal Pandya, reported Mint.
Previously, during the last encounter between these two teams in Bengaluru, Gambhir shushed the home crowd after snatching away the last-ball win.
IPL issued a release on late Monday night and said, "Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli has been fined 100 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Lucknow Super Giants.
